CULTURAL SHOW IN AID OF THE FLOOD AFFECTED PEOPLE OF MAJULI

Majuli Nov, 14:  A charity show was conducted by Spring Valley School of Jorhat in aid of flood-affected people of Majuli. The show was conducted by the Cultural Unit of the Students' Union of the school. As a part of the show, a dance-drama and a one-act play 'Save the largest river island' were organised. All the students put in their best to make the show a success. The students performed some creations of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankardeva and Mahapurusha Madhabdev as the Ankia nat 'Chordhora' Aru pimpora gochowa and Satriya Nritya. The show began and ended by performing Bargeet. Tickets for the show was sold in advance. A good amount of money was collected from some of the well-wishers of the area. In all, the society was able to collect Rs 40.070/ The entire collection was sent through a Demand Draft to the Chief Minister's Flood Relief Fund.
